adopt

At CRCS, our dogs are family. We make every effort to get to know everything we can about each dog prior to making them available for adoption. Our goal is successful placement into a forever loving home.

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered and current on vaccinations.

Adoption fees:

Our adoption application can be viewed and printed here CRCS Application for Adoption. We want all of our adoptions to be successful and therefore our process may be a little more extensive than other shelters and rescues. We ask that all family members and canine pals spend some time getting to know our dog before taking them home. We truly want a happy experience for the dogs and their new families.

Drop in's welcome every Saturday from 11am to 3pm. **All other visitations are by appointment only**

If you are interested in learning more about any of our dogs listed below, please contact us at 775.800.1906 or by email at info@crcsdogs.com.

Arizona

arizona1 arizona2 arizona3

Meet Arizona! Eager, curious, and motivated to get out and do! This little lady has got some herding instincts! She's smart and she's ready to learn. There really is a lot of work to be done and she is craving the calm and structured guidance that every herding dog dreams of. Arizona is seeking purpose and she's ready to find a human companion that wants to include her in the activities that they so enjoy. Hikers, runners, explorers... what's your passion? She's pretty sure she'd enjoy it right along side you! Due to breed, personality, and genetic make up, her ideal environment isn't right in the middle of busy, loud or chaotic activity. She wants to be able to focus on you, relax and do whatever task you have asked her to do. She will absolutely thrive when her person has taken the time to build a bond based on trust, respect, proper guidance. Adverse training methods will break and confuse this beautiful soul. Speak dog language and she is ALL IN, ready to do whatever you ask. She's a learner and a pleaser! We adore her enthusiasm and love for life! Age 7 years. 59 lbs.

**Visitations with Arizona are by appt. ONLY (even on Saturdays)! Please call or email us if you are interested in visiting with her!

Baloo

baloo1 baloo2 baloo3

Meet Baloo! Playful, happy, silly, and affectionate! This young man has been through a lot. We are so proud at all that he has overcome! While at CRCS, Baloo has gained life experience, expanded his social circle and settled into a consistent routine that is bringing him such joy. With regular exercise, lots of TLC and some basic structure, Baloo is ready to transition into life as a normal dog with a family of his very own. He loves to take walks and has great manners on the leash. His ideal home will be active and will want to include him on walks, car rides, movie night or a little snuggle time on the couch please! Due to his past, we are looking to place Baloo in an adult only home. Baloo does get along with dogs and can greet them beautifully while taking walks, however he is on a special training program and might need to be with a one dog family. Please inquire for more specific details and information. This boy doesn't seem to have a bad day. He will keep you smiling, we promise! Happy, sweet, loving. 4 years old. 83 lbs.

Banjo

Meet Banjo! This sweet boy joined the CRCS family with his buddy Skye. We are giving these two friends some time to decompress and adjust as we learn all about them and what their needs are moving forward. Banjo is needing to gain some confidence, expand his social circle and learn about the world around him. He is shy and unsure but very curious, gentle and loving to those he meets. Banjo does not need miles and miles of hiking or a job, he is seeking companionship, love, stability and exposure with only a moderate exercise routine. It would be wonderful for him to get outside of a yard and gain some confidence in new surroundings. He is seeking a quiet environment without barking dogs, hustle and bustle or busyness. He is a pretty mellow guy that will thrive in a calmer environment with people that share his same energy. Age 4 years. 47 lbs.

Charlie

charlie1 charlie2 charlie3

Meet Charlie! Silly, playful, affectionate, and mellow. His pictures tell it all. This guy carries a smile wherever he goes... and a toy if you'll let him! Charlie doesn't ask for much. He'd love to hang out on the couch and help you watch your favorite show, enjoy a car ride with his favorite human or head on out to the trails for a little sniffing and exploring. He is a pretty kick back kind of guy, house-trained, clean and easy to hang out with and snuggle with. Charlie can adapt to a variety of environments. He just wants to feel part of the family and be included on activities. The one thing he asks for is a home that shares his same energy. Now that he is an adult, Charlie isn't really into high energy dogs, overly playful dogs, small children... he just wants to chill and enjoy life. As most adults do. This boy is sweet, sweet, sweet and would absolutely love to steal your heart! How can you resist that smile? Need a new co-pilot and partner? This might be your boy. Age 7 years. 64 lbs.

**Visitations with Charlie are by appt. ONLY (even on Saturdays)! Please call or email us if you are interested in visiting with him!

Cliff

cliff1 cliff2 cliff3

Meet Cliff! Tall, dark and handsome! He may be a senior but someone forgot to tell him that! He's in great shape and has absolutely perfect energy in all the appropriate places (we aren't biased... seriously). Cliff would love to accompany you on long walks and adventures but is also perfectly content to chill next to you on the couch and help you watch your favorite show. He is an affectionate guy, loyal, smart and eager to be with you! Cliff has asked us to help him find a special home. He has requested space, peace and quiet away from concentrated neighborhoods. His ideal human is loving and calm. He is pretty sure that somebody out there will need him just as much as he needs them. We just know, without a doubt, he can fill the empty position with nothing but poise and grace. His desire? A partnership. A forever human companion. Cliff comes as a single guy. With that, he promises to give his full heart. Cliff has also made a special request. We don't know what Cliff has experienced or believes when it comes to small children, we just know they make him uncomfortable. So if you're not so comfy around little people either... you and Cliff... well you just might get along perfectly. They sure are cute though! Single dog family looking for lots of love? THIS is your guy! As for adults, Cliff will greet you and everyone else with his incredible looks, his amazing smile, and a tail wag. He'll lean in for affection and melt your heart right along with it. He is a love! Sorry, Cliff doesn't speak cat. Age 7 years. 82 lbs.

Copper

copper1 copper2 copper3

Meet Copper! Sweet, shy, loving, and gentle. Get down on his level and give him a few minutes of your energy... you'll see the tail start to gently wag and he may step towards you for a love. Copper can be a little unsure of new things so a slow introduction to pretty much anything would be the key to his success. He can do it all! He just asks that you allow him to observe and learn about it first, that's all. He is curious and wants to see and do, with your support of course! After what he has been through, we are beyond pleased at how well he is consistently improving and gaining confidence. He has turned into a very happy boy here at our center. He is revealing a beautiful energy and personality. Copper is good with dogs and might really enjoy/benefit from having a canine companion around. He is learning about the world right now and his curiosity is healthy and wonderful to watch. He is respectful of space and walks great on a leash. More than anything, he is craving companionship. His ideal environment will be quiet yet active and provide companionship during the day. He thrives when his people are gentle, calm and encouraging. We love this boy! Age 2 years. 47 lbs.

Daisy

daisy2 daisy1 daisy3

Meet Daisy! Affectionate, loyal, and intelligent. What a beautiful soul. There are no words that can describe the progress this girl has made. What an incredible journey she is on. Daisy's history left her little options as far as moving forward in life. She arrived at CRCS without any communication skills and very little life experience. We had so much to show her and teach her. And we have to say, what a great student she is! Daisy is on a training program that has given her a life, the ability to trust, love and an eagerness to learn. Beautiful. Daisy has asked us to help her find an environment that is quiet and spacious with active humans that understand working breeds need a sense of purpose, consistency in routine, as well as mental stimulation and physical exercise. Her new human will need to be a big part of her transition home. Come spend time with her trainer and learn all about Daisy, work with her and become her person before she goes home. Once you adopt, CRCS peeps will become your new fan club and support crew. We love our dogs and those that adopt them! Daisy is very clean and house trained. Sorry, life with busy families in concentrated neighborhoods isn't going to bring Daisy the balance that she needs. This girl has so much to give and her environment and people will be the key to her success! She is ready to find a forever home. Could that be you? We are pretty sure she'll be the one doing the rescuing. We love this girl. Daisy does have a rough time during thunder storms and high winds. Keeping her inside with company, is what gets her through the scary sounds of weather. Age 6 years. 75 lbs.

She rides great in the car and walks wonderfully on a leash- she is very quiet and calm during outings. She makes walks and car rides very easy and calming. Gracie loves to just "be" with you and the time spent by your side is her very favorite part of the day. Her ideal home will be quiet and respectful just like she is. She does need to lose a few pounds and get on a regular exercise routine to help keep her happy and healthy both mentally and physically. A calm yet active person that will include her in activities would be an ideal match for this girl. Gracie does well with canine companions that share her same temperament. Johnny

Meet Johnny! Johnny arrived at CRCS with his best buddy Mavis! We are still observing these two and will soon determine if they can be separated or need to stay together. If interested in adopting both, they are ready to go home to an environment that meets their happy-go-lucky, energetic, active, loving attitudes. Right now, Johnny is a little lost when he Mavis leaves him. We will work to build his confidence, have him meet new friends, experience new things and help him stand on his own four paws! Currently, this sweet boy feels at ease when he has a live body snuggling, touching, and/or being next to him. He is a very sweet soul with a gentle, kind-hearted spirit. He loves to play, explore, and run! Johnny is young and is looking for lots of exercise and both human and canine companionship. Johnny loves dogs and should he end up going a different direction then his partner Mavis, he will need an environment that has another canine to pal around with and/or one that keeps him around other canines on a daily basis. It is very much a part of who he is. Age 2 years. 52 lbs.

Sex:MBreed:Flat-coated retriever mix

keaton1 keaton2 keaton3

Keaton

Meet Keaton! Mr. Entertainment! His look, his personality, his funny ways... he'll keep you smiling. And couldn't we all use a little bit more of that? Keaton is very petite. He is also deaf and has some vision impairment, but before you put up your stop sign and start thinking how difficult that will be, let us share the benefits. Deaf dogs are easier to train and learn commands/hand signals quicker than dogs that can hear. Why? Because the #1 way that dogs communicate is through energy and body positioning. Not voice. The result is that they pick things up faster and look to their people for direction more (when trained to do so, of course) because they that's their preferred method of communication. One of the best ways to build a good foundation of trust and respect with your dog is by having them continually look to you for direction. We are building that foundation now with Keaton. Beautiful. Keaton is playful, curious, silly, energetic, and loving. He absolutely loves other dogs and gets right up next to people to offer affection. He is a joy to be around. Keaton does have some working breed DNA in there so exercise and structure are still very much needed. Special needs or not, most dogs, especially working breeds, are not fulfilled by having a big back yard. Keaton needs to get out and do! We have noticed that he is much happier when he is near a live body. We will be looking to place him in a home that either has someone at home during the day or someone that has other dogs he can pal around with. He asks to be around friends and have companionship. This is one silly boy and we are in LOVE with his funny ways! Age 1 year. 30 lbs.

layla4 layla5 layla6

Layla

Meet Layla! This toy flinging, affectionate girl with the big beautiful smile is currently taking interviews! Layla has recovered from two surgeries and survived something less than 5% of dogs that look like her survive... the system! She's the luckiest woman alive! Which means, you (her adopter) will then be blessed with such luck! If you need a little extra luck and love in your life, this might be your gal. A few of Layla's very best traits you ask? There are many. Layla is one of the cleanest dogs in our facility. She keeps her room immaculate. She never destroys or rips anything up, toys are always completely intact, beds and blankets stay in their place, food never spilled, she is house-trained and waits very patiently in her room until it's her turn for her next outing. Layla would also like to point out that she walks wonderfully on a leash and is the most well behaved dog in the car that you'll ever see! No bias! We swear! She is calm and quiet and stays in one place. She loves to see the world from the car window which makes taking her for outings fun and easy. She does have a few special requests - Layla has spent a long time in the hustle and bustle of the shelter. Finding a quiet home, without a lot of barking dogs nearby .... well, that's something she dreams about. Not only will it bring about her very best behavior, but you will start to see one PLAYFUL and very loving, loyal, affectionate, silly girl emerge. A quiet environment is her ticket to success. Layla does not enjoy the company of other dogs and asks to be with a one dog family. Dogs like Layla (that prefer people to dogs) take an extremely long time to adopt out. As a way of saying thank you for adopting our sweet girl, we'd like you to know that she comes support (and STUFF)! (some discounted, some for free). From sleepovers at CRCS while you are out of town to food, toys and training. We love this dog and want nothing more than to see her find a family of her own. For approved families, we'll go to the ends of the earth to provide a variety of services that can keep both Layla and her adopter happy. Inquire for details. Age 3 years old. 71 lbs.

Little Girl

Meet Little Girl! She knows who her peeps are and that's where she wants to be! She is snuggly, loving and tail wagging with those that spend a little time with her. On first visit, she is a little reserved, cautious, calm. Once she opens up, she has a sweet and bubbly little personality and who can resist that face? CRCS does have one request- all dogs, whatever their size, must be taught how to walk on their own four feet. This breed is naturally suspicious towards strangers and can be protective of their family. When approached correctly (like you would a big dog) the most amazing, well behaved, lively and loving little personality will emerge! Little Girl does like other dogs, is playful and has experience living with canines and humans of all sizes as well as cats. Take time to get to know this one and you will not be disappointed. She loves her walks, exploring and being a big dog! She is cute as a button and has the personality to match. We love this kid! Age 5 years. 5 lbs.

She is ready to put the past behind her and find a home where she can relax, experience open space, and feel love coming from every direction. She deserves it! Luna is energetic and loves to run and explore, but she can also be a super star snuggle bug on the couch, helping you watch your favorite show. Luna's ideal environment is one with companionship and lots of space so that her mind and body can feel the peace and quiet after years of chaos. She's ready to relax and find a lifelong partner. This little lady is smart and O' so curious! She loves to observe, sniff, explore and learn about all the things going on around her. Luna will need an adult only home due to occasional tenderness in her back end. CRCS will provide full medical information about the soreness. She is not currently on any medications and does not need surgery. Looking for someone that needs you just as much as you need them? This might be your gal! She is loyal and so very loving to her people. She'd love to be your right hand gal. Age 6 years. 71 lbs.

Macey

Meet Macey! Curious, athletic, energetic, affectionate! Macey is young and very playful, full of energy and full of life. Macey is also deaf. She is knowledgeable on hand signals, knows her basic commands and is very easily trained! She picks up on commands quickly. Macey is very friendly to new people, big and small. She greats strangers with a lot of love and energy and more tail wags and face licks than one can count! Macey most likely has some herding in her genetic make up. She loves to work, learn, and do. She is good with dogs on and off leash and has been integrated into several play groups here at the center. On a daily basis, we use her for behavior work with the other dogs due to her natural ability to greet new dogs well on a leash. Due to her genetics, age and energy, we are looking to match her up with a human that loves to hike/walk/jog and understands that working breeds need structure in order to stay happy and balanced. With those needs met, she is one pretty perfect dog (we aren't biased at all). She absolutely loves life! Though Macey is good with kids, she would prefer not to be a family dog. This beautiful girl is ready to find her new forever human and get out and see the world! She is bubbly, fun and oh so loving. Age 2 years. 80 lbs.

He's always game for some walk time, but he can also snuggle on the couch and help you watch your favorite show. See how adaptable he is? Meet Missy! This roly-poly little lady is new to CRCS and we're just getting to know her. She is adorable, shy, affectionate and happy to get out and explore with her dog pals. As you can see, she's just a tad bit over weight so we're working on getting her back into shape as well. We'll be posting more details and information about Missy when she's ready to be available for adoption. Missy is 7 years old. 52 lbs.

Nero

nero1 nero2 nero3

Meet Nero! Affectionate, affectionate, affectionate! Upon first glance, you will see that sweet Nero has been through a lot. On the outside, he is partially blind, a little unsteady on his feet and he wears many physical scars... each scar is a telling reminder of his triumph and bravery. On the inside, he is the most non-discriminating, loving and "live in the moment" soul you'll ever meet.

The first 6 years of his life are now behind him and he holds no grudges. He greets every man, woman and child with a smile, a lick and a tail wag. If you get down on his level, you might want to brace yourself… he'll take that as his cue to snuggle! He may be a bit wobbly on his feet, but the boy knows how to lean in and make you feel loved! The world would be a better place if everyone were as good at giving love and achieving complete forgiveness as Nero.

His personality is social and happy. His temperament is mellow. Because he sees shadows and movements without fully knowing what he's seeing, he can over stimulate when he's near dogs that he does not know. His ideal home is quiet with a spacious yard and no stairs. Nero is housetrained and very well mannered in the home. He loves other dogs as much as he loves people, however, due to his inability to see and hear clearly, he may not be a good fit for every dog. Dogs that do best with Nero are sturdy, confident, happy and well balanced. Get ready, he'll steal your heart, this one. He's something special. Age 7 years. 63 lbs.

Percy

percy2 percy1 percy3

Meet Percy! Calm, loving, and silly. This sweet boy is the perfect combination of good manners, chill attitude, funny personality and complete affection for his people. In the home, he is house-trained, easy to hang out with and low maintenance. He's a big LOVE bug and couch potato. Out on the trails, he prefers to get out and explore the roads less traveled. He walks great on a leash and is a gentleman in the car. Percy greets all people with a big beautiful smile and a tail wag. He even likes cats because they speak his language! As for other dogs, he is respectful of their space here at the center. Because he prefers to be near them without feeling pressured to interact, we will be looking to help him find a home that shares his same mindset. He doesn't want to be something he's not. Not all of use want to be the center of the party! Percy tells us that quiet settings are more his speed. We can respect that. If you are looking for a big, beautiful, mellow, easy going, full-of-love companion and aren't wanting to take center stage at the dog park or busy trails... this is YOUR guy! He is simply easy to be around. Love this boy! Kids and cats ok. Age 7 years. 78 lbs.

**Visitations with Percy are by appt. ONLY (even on Saturdays)! Please call or email us if you are interested in visiting with him!

Pete ~ In Recovery

Pete1 pete2 pete3

Meet Pete! This adorable little guy is brand new to CRCS and we're spending a little time getting to know him before we make him available for adoption. He's as cute as he looks in the pictures and just as sweet. We really aren't sure of Pete's breeding. He looks like a miniature golden retriever but he's a little on the small side... We'll be posting more details and information about Pete when we're ready to make him available and he tells us what kind of home he's looking for! Pete is 7 years old and weighs 19 lbs.

Pippi

pippi3 pippi5 pippi6

We have to be honest... we aren't sure what breed this little cutie pie is! Truth be told Pippi is the size of a Beagle, the shape of a Corgi, has the hair coat of a Harbor Seal and the face of a lab mixed with a little something else! We do know this little girl is one pretty awesome dog! Don't be fooled by her funny shape, Pippi is a LITTLE dog. She weighs about 25 pounds and she's a short, stocky little fire-cracker. Pippi has sass and spunk and she's all about PLAY! In the home, Pippi does have good manners and knows when to kick back. She is however, an energetic little gal and her ideal environment will offer lots of space to run and play as well as an active owner that loves to hike/walk/explore. Pippi is currently in several play groups here at the center and though she loves to be social and play with other dogs, interactions with other dogs need to be structured. If you regular dog parks and busy public trails, Pippi says no thank you. She is at her happiest when she can take walks in spacious neighborhoods or explore off leash in open and nature filled places. This adorable girl is a fun-loving, toy chasing, fetching queen and will bring home the balls until the sun goes down. She is extremely affectionate with her people and always game for some fun! She is a snuggler! Love this dog. Age 4 years. 37 lbs.

Ranger

Meet Ranger! What an incredible journey this boy is on! Ranger may not have had the best past, but he is working really hard here at CRCS and he's ready to put all of that behind him! He may take a little time, but earning his trust is the key to opening his heart and helping him overcome. For the first 5 to 6 months of his stay with us, he underwent some pretty challenging medical treatments. It wasn't easy but he handled it like a trooper, even with very restricted exercise. Now that he is physically healthy and feeling much better, we are working hard with his training. He has come so so far and we are so proud of him. Ranger is getting to the point of being able to begin the transition to home and family. His adoption will take a little time. His forever human will be dog savvy, patient, kind and wanting to make a real difference in the life of a very special dog. Our trainers want to share with you all that we have learned about him, help you build a bond, show you his needs moving forward and walk with you as we all begin the transition together. He will need exercise, structure, love and leadership. We we will continue to offer additional support post adoption and we'd love to tell you all about that! His adoption comes with an entire family and support crew, that's us! He is house-trained, well mannered in the house, not destructive, loves the car. Got space? Speak dog? Shoot us an e-mail to inquire about details of Rangers training program. We are here for you and Ranger, forever. And you just never know, you might be the one getting rescued. Adult only home please. Age 2 years. 62 lbs.

Rizzo

Meet Rizzo! Silly, playful, energetic, and curious! This little lady knows how to have a good time! She's all about fun, all the time! She is short and solid, energetic and eager, smart and loving. Rizzo loves to play with other dogs. Her play style is running, chasing, and wrestling. Her ideal BFF would be compatible in both energy and play style. Here at the center, Rizzo is learning her manners, basic commands, socializing with all types of personalities, and gaining exposure to new people and life experiences. She is soaking it all in and learning very quickly. We love this little lady! We are looking to place Rizzo in a home with a dog savvy owner that is active and looking for a co-pilot and partner in crime to include in daily exercising and activities. Rizzo is always eager to get out and do. She will absolutely thrive with a human that can provide love and patience while providing calm leadership and structure. We know you are out there! Come meet Rizzo! She creates a party wherever she goes and trust us when we say, you won't want to miss it! Sorry, no small children or kitties. Age 1 year. 62 lbs.

Roman

Meet Roman! Helloooo beautiful! Smart, athletic, energetic, silly. This boy is just a baby and has already picked up so many new things here at the center! We are beyond impressed with his quick learning skills. Right now, we are introducing him to as many dogs as possible. Socialization with positive experiences at his age are critical to his success. When Roman first arrived he was shy, under-socialized, had not learned appropriate leash skills and was unsure of the world around him. He has done more than come out of his shell! He cracked it wide open and came out with a smile! Roman is currently learning how to walk loose on a leash, all the basic commands, and we are building a good foundation of basic training, something that his new adopter can easily build on. He is eager and loves learning! His ideal environment will be familiar with the breed and on the look out for a walking/hiking/play partner. Due to his age and breed we will offer discounted Day Camp and classes here at the center just to keep him around other dogs and keep his training going. We are in it for the long haul! This dog has a brain that wants to learn! What a ham! Age 1 year. 53 lbs.

Skye

skye1 skye2 skye3

Meet Skye! This charming and intelligent lady joined the CRCS family with her buddy Banjo. We are giving these two friends some time to decompress and adjust as we learn all about them and what their needs are moving forward. Skye is observant, alert, curious and confident. This beautiful girl may seem aloof at first meet (could be due to breed or history). However, those individuals that invest a little time in her, get to see a loving, more affectionate side. Skye walks great on a leash and is always very aware of her surroundings. She is constantly observing, keeping track of any and all happenings, yet in a very calm and matter of fact way. She loves to explore, sniff, walk and learn. She has a bit of an independent side yet she does like companionship and being in the company of her buddy Banjo or people. She rides good in the car and is looking for a quiet, spacious, calm household where she can finally settle and feel the stability and purpose she so craves. Age 4 years. 65 lbs.

Smokie

smokie1 smokie2 smokie3

Looking for the perfect dog? Keep on looking. Smokie will be the first one to tell you... there are a lot of things he doesn't like, some things he likes only some of the time, and other things he loves to the moon and back! This is a guy that knows what he wants, when he wants it, and he'll shoot it to you straight. Quirky? Or maybe he wears his emotions on his sleeve. Either way, he embraces it with complete confidence and maybe a grrrrrrr and a smile. On the flip side, for those he loves, he gives his full heart and wants nothing more than to be by your side. More than anything in the world, Smokie craves a person to call his very own. He is looking for a single human seeking companionship, someone that will include him on outdoor activities. We'll give him credit, he is being pretty patient about holding out for just the right one. He did want us to mention that he'd be willing to overlook your quirks if you can overlook his. He knows he isn't perfect, but he does have some pretty perfect qualities when it comes to stuff he likes! Smokie is an absolute joy to take hiking and he is at his best when he's out on the trails, sniffing around and investigating his surroundings! He also LOVES to take car rides or he'll happily hang out with you and watch your favorite show. If you're looking for a guy that will stick with you through thick and thin, will tell it to you straight without the sugar coating, and will give his full heart to you and only you, come meet our man Smokie! Cute as a button (don't tell him we said that) and tough as nails (you can tell him we said that). Looks good in a sweater too! One he likes that is... 8 yrs old. 19 lbs.

Smokie has a neurologic condition. He is not on any medication but he is a special little guy. We still love him and we think you will too!

Stanley

stanley1 stanley3 stanley2

Meet Stanley! Loving, loyal, and athletic. We have known Stanley for a very long time. This boy wants nothing more than to get out and do… with you! He is at his absolute best when he has structure and regular exercise from his human. Tell him what you want and he will do it. A home without structure is like a life without purpose for Mr. Stanley. This is a love of a dog that is eager to please. Stanley can adapt to a variety of environments as long as his needs are met. He loves space, exploring, snuggling, learning, loving. He has lived with other dogs in the past though he may prefer to be an only dog. It would all depend he says… there are certain canine personalities that he truly enjoys. Stanley rides great in the car and has learned quite a few new skills here at the center! He would love to show them off if you give him an opportunity at a visit. We love this boy! Sorry, Stanley does not speak cat. Stanley is 4 years old. 64 lbs.

Wedge

wedge1 wedge2 wedge3

Meet Wedge! Intelligent, athletic, attentive, wiggly, and fun. Bred to work, think, do. Family life? That really isn't his thing. This sweet boy has requested an environment that's a little more structured and engaging for him. He is ready to find a dog savvy human that's equally excited to get out and do! He absolutely loves to play, explore, and learn. Throw the ball for him and you've got a new BFF! Forever. His ideal human knows how to gently set expectations and communicate what they want. He is loving and loyal, sweet and affectionate, and can sometimes be stubborn. Wedge is one smart lil' cookie ready to feel stability, consistency, partnership, and purpose. Wedge is in several play groups here at the facility and does very well but prefers to live as the only child. Wedge needs an adult only home, please. A smart, fun-loving, adventurous personality! Love this boy. Age 8 years. 48 lbs.

Willow

willow2 willow1 willow3

Meet Willow! Intelligent, shy, agile, athletic, and an excellent communicator. This girl is extremely loving and playful with both people and dogs that have taken their time to get to know her, gone at her pace, and invested consistent time in being with her. Willow is special. Her skill set in canine communication is incredible. She only connects with those that know how to communicate via energy and body language. A calm and gentle demeanor is required. For humans that carry her same skill set, Willow will open up in a very big way and when she does, she gives her full heart. She becomes playful, engaged and loves to bring you sticks! It's beautiful. Her past is that of survival and disconnectedness. Due to her breed, history and individual personality, we have a very specific home in mind for this wise soul. A calm, loving, athletic, active person that is looking for a true companion. Willow will not thrive in a home that sees her as a pet. She is looking for a bonded partner, a companion, someone that will spend hours with her every single day and include her on most activities. Without that connection, she will mentally and physically move on. And we do mean that literally. If you are seeking a soul mate and speak dog, we invite you to take the Willow test. She will know in minutes if you can speak her language (and so will we). Once you experience a bond with this girl, you'll never be the same. It is truly unique and special. Sorry, Willow is not a family dog or a dog for a room mate setting. She is on another level and needs a strong sense of contentedness with one or two individuals in order to succeed in the human world. Age 4 years. 42 lbs.

All of our sanctuary dogs have a home with us for life and we are committed to making CRCS the best possible 'home away from a real home' that we can for these deserving dogs. Unfortunately, due to limited space and resources we do not have any additional openings for sanctuary dogs at this time.

jessie1 jessie2

Jessie

Jessie Came to CRCS in 2013. She was a long time shelter dog at another facility and being a black pittie, she was having a hard time getting noticed. Shortly after she came to CRCS, we discovered she had a torn cruciate ligament requiring surgery. She came through surgery with flying colors and rehabbed like a champ! Jessie is a favorite among staff at CRCS and a best friend to her room-mate, Beckett. She is a huge help for us evaluating other dogs as she is a dog-friendly and has a good energy. Jessie loves to plop herself down on a bench or roll in the tall grass on our walking paths. Her daily motto is "take time to stop and smell the roses". She is all about sunshine and lazy days and hanging out watching the days go by with a smile on her face.

A few photos of Jessie enjoying herself taken by our team.

sprinter1 sprinter2

Sprinter

Sprinter grew up in the shelter, from puppyhood to adulthood, so EVERYTHING is an adventure! Sprinter's challenge is learning to trust new and different people. To help Sprinter out, we have a great group of volunteers working on expanding his social circles. Every day he gets to practice his skills around other dogs and new people. Our crew takes him on car rides, out to the play yard to splash in the water and for and hikes on the trail. Sprinter has shown us what a character he is and has demonstrated his fondness for all things mud and dirt!

A few photos of Sprinter enjoying himself taken by our team.

scarlet1 scarlet2

Scarlet

Scarlet became a member of the CRCS family a few years ago and is improving every month. Slowly but surely, she is making big strides in her recovery. Scarlet survived being hit by a car. She had a shattered hip and no one knew it for 10 days. We can only imagine the pain she was in. She also survived an owner that thought caring for a dog meant tying them to a tree, isolated for years. Scarlet was also a victim of a hoarding situation, living in a crate inside an RV garage for 3 years with 26 other screaming dogs surrounding her.

Today, Scarlet is experiencing all kinds of new and different people and taking car rides to "help" run errands, go on hikes and practice every day dog activities. She is the official CRCS mascot ... She is an AMAZING helper and our permanent co-pilot!

A few photos taken of Scarlet having fun at CRCS.
