adopt

At CRCS, our dogs are family. We make every effort to get to know everything we can about each dog prior to making them available for adoption. Our goal is successful placement into a forever loving home.

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered and current on vaccinations.

Adoption fees:

Our adoption application can be viewed and printed here CRCS Application for Adoption. We want all of our adoptions to be successful and therefore our process may be a little more extensive than other shelters and rescues. We ask that all family members and canine pals spend some time getting to know our dog before taking them home. We truly want a happy experience for the dogs and their new families.

**All visitations are by appointment only**

PUPPIES!

We have 6 puppies left! Lab/husky/mutt mix puppies born around February 7th and now ready to go home!

Arthur

arthur5 arthur6 arthur7

Meet Arthur! Once this little guy gets to know you, he is all snuggles and loves to be held. Arthur is learning all about the world and what it has to offer. He has expanded his social circle with both people and dogs. He's visited parks and gone on car rides. Because everything is new, going slow is the key to his success. It gives him time to get comfortable and process everything that's going on around him. With slow and proper introduction, this little guy is proving that he can do it! He is in quite a few play groups here at the center and loves his friends. We are starting to see him fling toys around in his room. We believe Arthur would love to be in a home with other easy going, friendly, small dogs. You just might see a silly and playful personality emerge... we are definitely seeing that here! He is young, so lots of exercise will help him come out of his shell even more. A big back yard is great but he'll need to get out of the house and experience walks and new things at his pace. Arthur can get scared if approached quickly so he'll be most comfortable in a home without the quick energy of young children. You'll love this boy. He is good at stealing his way into your heart. Age 1 yr. 13 lbs.

He is your biggest fan when you are his. Speak his language and you'll have a loyal partner to the end. He is at his happiest when he's out exploring, stimulated and exercised right alongside his person. He loves to think and he loves to do! Beckett's ideal home is calm yet active. Beckett's ideal person is confident, intuitive and quiet. He has so much love to give and he's looking for a spacious place to settle down and get back into life. Beckett prefers young female dogs however we'd like to place him as an only dog. Adult only home. Sorry, no kitties please. Age 7 years. 77 lbs.

Charlie

charlie1 charlie2 charlie3

Meet Charlie! Silly, playful, affectionate, and mellow. His pictures tell it all. This guy carries a smile wherever he goes... and a toy if you'll let him! Charlie doesn't ask for much. He'd love to hang out on the couch and help you watch your favorite show, enjoy a car ride with his favorite human or head on out to the trails for a little sniffing and exploring. He is a pretty kick back kind of guy, house-trained, clean and easy to hang out with and snuggle with. Charlie can adapt to a variety of environments. He just wants to feel part of the family and be included on activities. The one thing he asks for is a home that shares his same energy. Now that he is an adult, Charlie isn't really into high energy dogs, overly playful dogs, small children... he just wants to chill and enjoy life. As most adults do. This boy is sweet, sweet, sweet and would absolutely love to steal your heart! How can you resist that smile? Need a new co-pilot and partner? This might be your boy. Age 7 years. 64 lbs.

Chloe

chloe2 chloe3 chloe4

Meet Chloe! Miss "Full Of Personality"! Oh, and a face that makes EVERYONE smile! Seriously, who can resist that squishy face! Chloe is a little unsure of new people at first, but once you've invested some one on one time, she's your biggest fan! Chloe has lived in a home environment most of her life. She prefers mellow and quiet please. She naps while you are gone or she might fling a toy around to keep busy. She did grow up with cats and loves their companionship. Chloe likes to ride in the car and is a joy to walk on a leash. She's polite and doesn't pull. She loves to get out and slowly explore her surroundings, sniff around, take her time. She's all in for more of an easy going outing vs miles of exercise. Hiking is great and all... for other dogs. It's not really her thing. A basic exercise routine away from the house, a yard to enjoy at home, and people to love. Her needs are pretty simple. Chloe does best with large, easy going male dogs or as an only dog. Older children. No small dogs. This silly lady is ready to make you smile! Age 6 years old. 64 lbs.

Cliff

cliff1 cliff2 cliff3

Meet Cliff! Tall, dark and handsome! He may be a senior but someone forgot to tell him that! He's in great shape and has absolutely perfect energy in all the appropriate places (we aren't biased... seriously). Cliff would love to accompany you on long walks and adventures but is also perfectly content to chill next to you on the couch and help you watch your favorite show. He is an affectionate guy, loyal, smart and eager to be with you! Cliff has asked us to help him find a special home. He has requested space, peace and quiet away from concentrated neighborhoods. His ideal human is loving and calm. He is pretty sure that somebody out there will need him just as much as he needs them. We just know, without a doubt, he can fill the empty position with nothing but poise and grace. His desire? A partnership. A forever human companion. Cliff comes as a single guy. With that, he promises to give his full heart. Cliff has also made a special request. We don't know what Cliff has experienced or believes when it comes to small children, we just know they make him uncomfortable. So if you're not so comfy around little people either... you and Cliff... well you just might get along perfectly. They sure are cute though! Single dog family looking for lots of love? THIS is your guy! As for adults, Cliff will greet you and everyone else with his incredible looks, his amazing smile, and a tail wag. He'll lean in for affection and melt your heart right along with it. He is a love! Sorry, Cliff doesn't speak cat. Age 8 years. 82 lbs.

Clyde

clyde3 clyde2 clyde4

Meet Clyde! Sweet, friendly, and super snuggly! This little man will bring a smile to everyone he meets! Something about his little walk, his smile, his silly nature, he just makes you want to smile. He is a snuggler. Here at the center we are helping him understand that walking on his own 4 paws is actually good for the soul.... then his reward is snuggle time. If it was up to him, he'd just have you carry him everywhere. Because, well, why not right? He loves his peeps! Clyde is good with other dogs and friendly with people. He does need some very gentle direction when it comes time to integrating him into a pack (whether human or canine). We can give you all the details on how his little brain operates and the small adjustments that will help him settle in and become part of a loving family. Sweet, loving, affectionate and of course, handsome! We absolutely love this boy! Age 5 years. 6 lbs.

Cotton ~ In Recovery

cotton1 cotton2 cotton3

Meet Cotton! Officials worked hard to bust a dog fighting case in Colorado. Once caught, the dogs were confiscated and court holds were placed as they worked through the legalities. Once the dogs were released, groups from across the country stepped in to help. After that, there were 11 dogs left. Experienced groups from the East to West coast stepped in. Of those last 11 dogs, all were taken but one. This guy. We were contacted by Best Friends Animal Society and asked to take the last boy standing. Cotton. We have a soft spot for the overlooked. And so here he is, ready to learn a new life. Beautiful.

Cotton is in recovery and will be spending some time in our program. We welcome this beautiful boy to a whole new life. We don't know exactly what he's experienced or what he knows about this world of ours. But we have BIG plans for him and can't wait to show him all that this amazing world has to offer! There is so much that he's yet to see and do. Our arms and our hearts are wide open. Let us get to work. Lean in Cotton. Life. Starts. Now. Cotton is just 2 years old. 46 lbs.

She's good at reading energy and very aware of her surroundings. Here at the center, she excels at the obstacle course, agility, learning new commands and walking or jogging right along side you with purpose. She's a bit of a ham with those she knows and loves. Dizzle's ideal environment will be able to provide daily mental stimulation in addition to physical exercise. She craves structure and a good foundation to work from built on trust and respect. Emma

Meet Emma! Busy, silly, curious, and loving! She's a petite little girl with an eagerness to see the world and a desire to belong. Emma lived alone for years, without proper exposure to people, dogs, or life in general. Since coming to CRCS, this little lady has met new friends, gained confidence, learned how to walk on a leash, taken rides to the park, discovered lizards, toys, water and more! She is continuing to improve and has shown that with a proper introduction to anything new, she is able to overcome! Her personality brings a smile. Her outlook on life is simple - let's go check it out! There is so much to see and do! Emma's ideal environment will be active yet patient and calm. They will understand that each and every month, she will continue to transform and grow and learn what life is like with a family. Emma is used to open spaces so her preference would be a quiet neighborhood, spacious yard, people that are eager to slowly introduce her to all that the world has to offer! Emma has met lots of doggie friends here at the center. Her preference of dog personalities are those that don't bark at her on initial introduction. Bring it in slow (as with everything) and you'll see her eyes and heart open wide. She wants to love. Emma is on medication that will be life long but that doesn't hold her back in any way or affect her outlook on life! Adult only home please. Sorry, Emma does not speak cat. What a joyful, loving, sweet, funny, personality, ready to become part of a family. Finally, after a 5 year wait. Well deserved. Age 6 years. 43 lbs.

Google ~ In Recovery

google1 google2 google3

Meet Google! A man of much cuteness and many opinions! He'd like to describe himself as mature, wise, and a dog that knows what he wants. Because he's cute and fluffy, we think he may have grown up being treated that way. He is still in training and recovery here at the center but he's already told us that he'd really rather be treated like a dog, thank you very much! He's naturally a bit independent, not a snuggler. He loves being engaged by his people, going on long walks, exploring and he's really good at just chillin' inside as well. He's extremely clean with a mellow temperament. He is also very house-trained. He enjoys the company of many dogs here at the center. He does best with soft temperament dogs or independent dogs like himself. Should the right person come along, he would be ready to transition into his forever home. Meanwhile, he'll continue working on "dog stuff" until his forever match is found. Adult only home please. We love this little dude! Funny, chill, clean, easy to hang out with. Age 8 years. 17 lbs.

Gracie

gracie1 gracie2 gracie3

Meet Gracie! Shy, loyal, quiet, and loving. This pretty girl is absolutely needing to feel like she is part of something. Finding a forever person is at the top of her list. She just wants to belong. She rides great in the car and walks wonderfully on a leash- she is very quiet and calm during outings. She makes walks and car rides very easy and calming. Gracie loves to just "be" with you and the time spent by your side is her very favorite part of the day. Her ideal home will be quiet and respectful just like she is. She does need to lose a few pounds and get on a regular exercise routine to help keep her happy and healthy both mentally and physically. A calm yet active person that will include her in activities would be an ideal match for this girl. Gracie does well with canine companions that share her same temperament. Looking for a sweet soul who needs you as much as you need them? This one is a keeper! Age 5 years. 93 lbs.

Jack

jackshep1 jackshep2 jackshep3

Meet Jack! He's a little bit shy, a little bit independent and has a LOT of love to give! Jack is a pretty chill guy in terms of temperament. His easy-going attitude is wonderful to be around! That does not make him a couch potato or one thatís going to be satisfied with a back yard, however. This guy is young and ready to explore WITH you. He has a good energy and makes for an excellent adventure partner. He is looking for a calm yet active home that will include him on activities. We are currently working on helping him make positive associations with the car and car rides and heís made great progress! Due to his breed and a pinch of independence, he is not a good candidate for off-leash walks/hikes. Jack is good with other dogs and walks well on the leash, so on-leash adventures are pretty easy with those traits. This beautiful boy is looking for a transition to a new home. Heíll need to build a relationship with you and trust before you take him home. Invest time in him, and the reward will be absolutely all yours! We do believe Jack would prefer to have a canine companion as well. He has grown up living among other dogs and finds great comfort in being part of a pack. We love this boy! Age 2 years. 60 lbs.

Keaton

keaton1 keaton2 keaton3

Meet Keaton! Mr. Entertainment! His look, his personality, his funny ways... he'll keep you smiling. And couldn't we all use a little bit more of that? Keaton is very petite. He is also deaf and has some vision impairment, but before you put up your stop sign and start thinking how difficult that will be, let us share the benefits. Deaf dogs are easier to train and learn commands/hand signals quicker than dogs that can hear. Why? Because the #1 way that dogs communicate is through energy and body positioning. Not voice. The result is that they pick things up faster and look to their people for direction more (when trained to do so, of course) because they that's their preferred method of communication. One of the best ways to build a good foundation of trust and respect with your dog is by having them continually look to you for direction. We are building that foundation now with Keaton. Beautiful. Keaton is playful, curious, silly, energetic, and loving. He absolutely loves other dogs and gets right up next to people to offer affection. He is a joy to be around. Keaton does have some working breed DNA in there so exercise and structure are still very much needed. Special needs or not, most dogs, especially working breeds, are not fulfilled by having a big back yard. Keaton needs to get out and do! We have noticed that he is much happier when he is near a live body. We will be looking to place him in a home that either has someone at home during the day or someone that has other dogs he can pal around with. He asks to be around friends and have companionship. This is one silly boy and we are in LOVE with his funny ways! Age 1 year. 30 lbs.

layla4 layla5 layla6

Layla

Meet Layla! This toy flinging, affectionate girl with the big beautiful smile is currently taking interviews! Layla has recovered from two surgeries and survived something less than 5% of dogs that look like her survive... the system! She's the luckiest woman alive! Which means, you (her adopter) will then be blessed with such luck! If you need a little extra luck and love in your life, this might be your gal. A few of Layla's very best traits you ask? There are many. Layla is one of the cleanest dogs in our facility. She keeps her room immaculate. She never destroys or rips anything up, toys are always completely intact, beds and blankets stay in their place, food never spilled, she is house-trained and waits very patiently in her room until it's her turn for her next outing. Layla would also like to point out that she walks wonderfully on a leash and is the most well behaved dog in the car that you'll ever see! No bias! We swear! She is calm and quiet and stays in one place. She loves to see the world from the car window which makes taking her for outings fun and easy.

Layla is good with people and dogs and greets all with a smile and a tail wag. With some dogs- she likes to play. With other dogs- she will sniff, say her hello's, and then be on her way. Layla has spent a long time in the hustle and bustle of the shelter. Finding a quiet loving home.... well, that's something she dreams about. Once you get to know Layla, you will see the PLAYFUL and very loving, loyal, affectionate, silly girl that we all know and love here at CRCS. Layla will be an easy transition to home. A loving and quiet environment is her ticket to success. As a way of saying thank you for adopting our sweet girl, we'd like you to know that she comes support (and STUFF! - some discounted, some for free). From sleepovers at CRCS while you are out of town to food, toys and training. We love this dog and want nothing more than to see her find a family of her own. For approved families, we'll go to the ends of the earth to provide a variety of services that can keep both Layla and her adopter happy. Inquire for details. Kids and dogs OK. Age 4 years old. 71 lbs.

She is ready to put the past behind her and find a home where she can relax, experience open space, and feel love coming from every direction. She deserves it! Mac

mac1 mac2 mac3

Meet Mac! Eager, loving, energetic, playful, and loyal. This goofball has come so far since he first arrived at CRCS! He joined us as an inexperienced 2 year old, confused about the world around him. Mac is learning about all what the world has to offer. He's meeting new friends, practicing his basic commands, learning loose leash walking, playing with toys, exploring and more. He has loosened up and is now ready to transition to his forever home. He takes some time to build trust with people, but once he does, he wraps his four paws around you like he'll forever be yours! He is extremely affectionate with those he knows and loves to play with younger dogs and dog friendly dogs. He is on a special training program here at the center and with calm leadership, he absolutely thrives and learns and loves! We invite you down to meet his trainers and learn how we've exposed him to life! His new adopter will need to carry it forward on so that Mac can continue to gain exposure and positive experiences! He is trying really hard not to chase the lizards and small critters, but we do believe there is some terrier in there telling him to "catch" "catch" "catch"! Sorry kitties, that will not go away! A kitty free home is the only home for Mac. Mac's ideal environment will have lots of space to run and play as well as a human that will help slowly expose him to new things. This is a beautiful boy with an eagerness to please his people! Though he has lived with children, the social, busy lifestyle that comes with having children would not be his ideal. We seriously love this kid! Come learn about Mac! Age 2 years. 72 lbs.

This is a personality that you really need to meet in person. He's a joy to have around! Milo's ideal home will be looking for a companion and partner, someone to share time with and include him on activities. Daily exercise is good! He's always game for some walk time, but he can also snuggle on the couch and help you watch your favorite show. See how adaptable he is? Milo's exposure to children is limited so a home that is quiet and open to doing slow introductions to kids is best. We love this boy! Looking for a lap dog? This might be your boy. Pippi

We have to be honest.... we aren't sure what breed this little cutie pie is! Truth be told Pippi is the size of a Beagle, the shape of a Corgi, has the hair coat of a Harbor Seal and the face of a lab mixed with a little something else! We do know this little girl is one pretty awesome dog! Don't be fooled by her funny shape, Pippi is a LITTLE dog. She weighs about 25 pounds and she's a short, stocky little fire-cracker. Pippi has sass and spunk and she's all about PLAY! In the home, Pippi does have good manners and knows when to kick back. She is however, an energetic little gal and her ideal environment will offer lots of space to run and play as well as an active owner that loves to hike/walk/explore. Pippi is currently in several play groups here at the center and though she loves to be social and play with other dogs, interactions with other dogs need to be structured. If you regular dog parks and busy public trails, Pippi says no thank you. She is at her happiest when she can take walks in spacious neighborhoods or explore off leash in open and nature filled places. This adorable girl is a fun-loving, toy chasing, fetching queen and will bring home the balls until the sun goes down. She is extremely affectionate with her people and always game for some fun! Roman

Meet Roman! Helloooo beautiful! Smart, athletic, energetic, silly. This boy is just a baby and has already picked up so many new things here at the center! We are beyond impressed with his quick learning skills. Right now, we are introducing him to as many dogs as possible. Socialization with positive experiences at his age are critical to his success. When Roman first arrived he was shy, under-socialized, had not learned appropriate leash skills and was unsure of the world around him. He has done more than come out of his shell! He cracked it wide open and came out with a smile! Roman is currently learning how to walk loose on a leash, all the basic commands, and we are building a good foundation of basic training, something that his new adopter can easily build on. He is eager and loves learning! His ideal environment will be familiar with the breed and on the look out for a walking/hiking/play partner. Due to his age and breed we will offer discounted Day Camp and classes here at the center just to keep him around other dogs and keep his training going. We are in it for the long haul! Romulus

Meet Romulus! Smart, watchful, curious, and loyal. Romulus arrived at CRCS as a young (under one year), inexperienced boy with a big body and natural instincts that he didn't quite know what to do with. During his short stay here, he has come so far already. We have introduced him to dogs, play, commands, new textures, activities, life experience, training and more. It has all come together to bring him to a better state of being. Now, he is curious to interact with other dogs and has a healthy eagerness to learn about the big wide world around him. Romulus is far from experienced, he is only one year old. He has gained so much exposure here at CRCS. He is ready to slowly transition to a new home. This will require several sessions with one of our trainers so you can learn what he's about. Every dog is different. We ask that you take the time to bond with him prior to making the transition home so that all new introductions come from someone he already knows and trusts (you). This breed tends to be a bit aloof and suspicious of strangers, protective of their space and people, yet extremely loyal and affectionate with those they know. Romulus is no exception. He fits the definition of German Shepherd to a T. Experience with the breed preferred. His ideal human will be active and knowledgeable on how to provide calm and gentle leadership, while keeping him mentally stimulated and physically exercised. Adult only home please. No concentrated neighborhoods. Spacious and quiet environments will allow Romulus to properly process all the new activities around him and keep him at a balanced state. A very playful and eager boy. It's been a joy to watch him progress! Age 1 year. 77 lbs.

Sahara

sahara1 sahara2 sahara3

Meet Sahara! She's smart, beautiful, well-trained and affectionate with her peeps! Yep, we think she's pretty perfect. No bias here! Sahara walks excellent on a leash and is extremely in tune to her surroundings. Here genetics keep her on the look out, scanning her environment and she is always in the know of whats happening. A very good thing to have around! Her individual personality mixed with her breed make her an excellent observer and the added bonus is this- she's very easy to train and eager to please you! She is intelligent and she's motivated by the desire to work with you, be your team-mate, your partner, your cohort, your BFF! Call it what you will, she's "all in" with you. Forget dog parks or idle chit chat with complete strangers, that's not really her cup of tea. Sahara is perfectly fine with dogs and people near by, she just isn't seeking the title of "social butterfly". She would rather participate in activities where she knows the purpose and outcome. Taking a walk, snuggling on the couch, hiking, walking, chilling out with family, playing, running errands, cruising the neighborhood... She can do it all! Working breeds like Sahara are fine with most environments as long as there is structure. Areas where dogs are on leash, activities where she can be present with her human. Sahara has the ability to adapt to a variety of different homes and human personalities. She has asked us to help her find a family that will include her in the activities. Being part of your family- that's her purpose. This is one incredible dog. And that face! With those ears? Who can resist? Come spend time with her to find out just how special she is! We love this girl! Kids ok. Sorry, no kitties please. Age 6 years. 54 lbs.

Shadow

shadowpug1 shadowpug2 shadowpug3

Meet Shadow! Gentle, calm, loving, and affectionate. This boy will greet all people with a gentle tail wag and a calm yet friendly hello! He has a wonderful temperament that makes it easy to get to know him and spend time with him. He walks beautifully on the leash and truly enjoys getting out to sniff and explore the trails. He is also a huge advocate of snuggle time and will gladly help you watch your favorite show while hanging out on the couch. Whatever your activity, he'd love to join! He is house-trained and well mannered in the house. Shadow does have some spacial sensitivities with other dogs so appropriate greetings and respectful hellos are critical to his success in terms of dog to dog time. He is non-reactive on the trails and does well in public places, just asks that other dogs are respectful of his space and he will offer the same in return. Will do best as an only dog. Shadow does good in the car and would absolutely love being included on family activities. His energy level is fairly calm for his age. He will do just fine with an average daily walk and a nice yard to enjoy some off leash time. An absolute joy to spend time with. No small children please. Age 3 years. 15 lbs.

Walk by and you'll be the next lucky recipient! She is instantly loving towards people of all shapes and sizes and will lean in for affection. Here at the center, she is learning different types of leash walking, getting a good foundation of training down and loving her play time with other dogs. She does well in the car, is clean in her room and is very house-trained. Her genetics do tell her to chase small critters. So a kitty free home is a must for this little lady. She has some BFF's here at the center and her favorites are usually the big playful dogs. She is athletic and has a desire to get out and explore. She has a pretty perfect mix of calm within her and knows when it's time to settle in and when it's time to get up and go. Smokie

smokie1 smokie2 smokie3

Looking for the perfect dog? Keep on looking. Smokie will be the first one to tell you... there are a lot of things he doesn't like, some things he likes only some of the time, and other things he loves to the moon and back! This is a guy that knows what he wants, when he wants it, and he'll shoot it to you straight. Quirky? Or maybe he wears his emotions on his sleeve. Either way, he embraces it with complete confidence and maybe a grrrrrrr and a smile. On the flip side, for those he loves, he gives his full heart and wants nothing more than to be by your side. More than anything in the world, Smokie craves a person to call his very own. He is looking for a single human seeking companionship, someone that will include him on outdoor activities. We'll give him credit, he is being pretty patient about holding out for just the right one. He did want us to mention that he'd be willing to overlook your quirks if you can overlook his. He knows he isn't perfect, but he does have some pretty perfect qualities when it comes to stuff he likes! Smokie is an absolute joy to take hiking and he is at his best when he's out on the trails, sniffing around and investigating his surroundings! He also LOVES to take car rides or he'll happily hang out with you and watch your favorite show. If you're looking for a guy that will stick with you through thick and thin, will tell it to you straight without the sugar coating, and will give his full heart to you and only you, come meet our man Smokie! Cute as a button (don't tell him we said that) and tough as nails (you can tell him we said that). Looks good in a sweater too! One he likes that is... 8 yrs old. 19 lbs.

Smokie has a neurologic condition. He is not on any medication but he is a special little guy. We still love him and we think you will too!

Sprite

sprite4 sprite5 sprite6

Meet Sprite! Sweet, silly, playful, and eager! This little guy has a ton of personality and once he knows you, he'll have you laughing daily! Sprite is good with other dogs and has been integrated into quite a few playgroups here at the center. He is house-trained and very well behaved inside the home. Sprite is a small guy, so when humans come at him we can only imagine what that must feel like. He needs a slow approach down at his level. Once he knows you, you'll never get him out of your lap! He has a very funny personality and when you see him walking along... well, you just can't help but smile. Sprite walks well on a leash and is ALWAYS eager to go for an adventure! Sprite is a social guy and is young so his ideal home will include more than just a backyard. He'll need time outside of the house, taking walks, hikes, and runs. He will do best in a home that isn't loud or busy with traffic (people or cars) coming/going too frequently. In his ideal environment, he is calm, well behaved, snuggly, and loving. We seriously love this guy! Age 3 years. 12 lbs.

Wanda ~ ADOPTION PENDING

wanda1 wanda2 wanda3

Meet Wanda! Smart, active, quiet, brave, and loyal...a beautiful energy, an athlete, an intelligent and fun loving soul! What an amazing energy this girl emits. She is a beautiful dog to see in person. We have been blown away at her absolutely perfect canine communication skills. Wanda has got talent! She is very in tune to her environment and the energy of people and dogs and has a gift when it comes to reading the energy of others. It has been our absolute pleasure to be in her presence and watch her work. Wanda loves other dogs and we use her for behavior work and socialization (for our under-socialized dogs) every chance we get. She tends to loosen them up and get them to feel more comfortable about the world. Her breed is naturally wary and/or aloof with strangers, however once she becomes more familiar, she is very playful, affectionate and loving with her people. She LOVES her squeaky toys! Partly genetic. Her genetics drive her to observe, work, scan, do, hunt, and learn. She leaps and runs like a gazelle, so beautiful and agile. Her athleticism is a joy to see. Her individual personality craves play, affection, and understanding and she will thrive with a calm, loving, human partner and leader. Wanda is very quiet. We've yet to hear her bark. Her mind is always at work though! Wanda is seeking a human that will provide more than your average amounts of exercise. A walk in the neighborhood and a big back yard are not enough to keep her happy and healthy mentally or physically. She was born to think and explore. If you were too, this might just be your girl! It is what brings her peace and purpose. Dogs Ok. Though we know Wanda would do fine with calm respectful children, that lifestyle isn't suited to that which brings her joy. What a beautiful soul. We seriously love working with this dog! Age 1 year. Approximately 55 lbs.

Willow

willow2 willow1 willow3

Meet Willow! Intelligent, shy, agile, athletic, and an excellent communicator. This girl is extremely loving and playful with both people and dogs that have taken their time to get to know her, gone at her pace, and invested consistent time in being with her. Willow is special. Her skill set in canine communication is incredible. She only connects with those that know how to communicate via energy and body language. A calm and gentle demeanor is required. For humans that carry her same skill set, Willow will open up in a very big way and when she does, she gives her full heart. She becomes playful, engaged and loves to bring you sticks! It's beautiful. Her past is that of survival and disconnectedness. Due to her breed, history and individual personality, we have a very specific home in mind for this wise soul. A calm, loving, athletic, active person that is looking for a true companion. Willow will not thrive in a home that sees her as a pet. She is looking for a bonded partner, a companion, someone that will spend hours with her every single day and include her on most activities. Without that connection, she will mentally and physically move on. And we do mean that literally. If you are seeking a soul mate and speak dog, we invite you to take the Willow test. She will know in minutes if you can speak her language (and so will we). Once you experience a bond with this girl, you'll never be the same. It is truly unique and special. Sorry, Willow is not a family dog or a dog for a room mate setting. She is on another level and needs a strong sense of contentedness with one or two individuals in order to succeed in the human world. Age 4 years. 42 lbs.

Zeke

zeke1 zeke3 zeke4

Meet Zeke! Athletic, playful, silly, curious! Zeke is a gorgeous young pup with a "let's get out and explore" attitude! He has quite a story to tell... Zeke has been through 3 owners that we know of. While with one of his adopters, he was hit by a car and his leg was so badly damaged, with multiple fractures, it could not be saved. His owner brought him to a vet and surrendered him. The hospital saved the dog, performed the surgery, amputated the leg, and days later he was transferred to CRCS. Zeke is a very social guy around both people and dogs. He is very affectionate with his people and once he is bonded, he is smart, easy to train, loyal and can be protective. Having 3 legs hasn't slowed him down a bit thank you very much! He can run, play, jump, dash and do all the things all the other dogs do. He loves to get out for walks and is already well adapted to being a tripod. Zeke loves other dogs and wants to play with every new dog he meets. Sorry, Zeke needs a kitty free home. He's a beautiful boy inside out! Age 3 years. 53 lbs.

zeus1 zeus2 zeus3

Meet Zeus! This very special boy is looking for an accepting, loving, nurturing, forever home. Zeus has kidney disease. Unfortunately, the disease is chronic and progressive so we are uanble to say how much time he has. What we can say, is that Zeus is still a very energetic, joyful, happy, playful and loving dog. He has a beautiful heart and so much enthusiasm for life. Zeus loves people. He is social, playful and very affectionate. He is good with other dogs, although due to his illness, we will be screening his home for just the right environment for his needs. Zeus is on a special kidney diet and he does take medication. In the short time this amazing dog has been with us, he's stolen the hearts of everyone he's met. He truly is a joy to be around. Zeus is accepting applications for adoption or foster. All of our sanctuary dogs have a home with us for life and we are committed to making CRCS the best possible 'home away from a real home' that we can for these deserving dogs. Unfortunately, due to limited space and resources we do not have any additional openings for sanctuary dogs at this time.

jessie1 jessie2

Jessie

Jessie Came to CRCS in 2013. She was a long time shelter dog at another facility and being a black pittie, she was having a hard time getting noticed. Shortly after she came to CRCS, we discovered she had a torn cruciate ligament requiring surgery. She came through surgery with flying colors and rehabbed like a champ! Jessie is a favorite among staff at CRCS and a best friend to her room-mate, Beckett. She is a huge help for us evaluating other dogs as she is a dog-friendly and has a good energy. Jessie loves to plop herself down on a bench or roll in the tall grass on our walking paths. Her daily motto is "take time to stop and smell the roses". She is all about sunshine and lazy days and hanging out watching the days go by with a smile on her face.

A few photos of Jessie enjoying herself taken by our team.

Sprinter

Sprinter grew up in the shelter, from puppyhood to adulthood, so EVERYTHING is an adventure! Sprinter's challenge is learning to trust new and different people. To help Sprinter out, we have a great group of volunteers working on expanding his social circles. Every day he gets to practice his skills around other dogs and new people. Our crew takes him on car rides, out to the play yard to splash in the water and for and hikes on the trail. Sprinter has shown us what a character he is and has demonstrated his fondness for all things mud and dirt!

A few photos of Sprinter enjoying himself taken by our team.

scarlet1 scarlet2

Scarlet

Scarlet became a member of the CRCS family a few years ago and is improving every month. Slowly but surely, she is making big strides in her recovery. Scarlet survived being hit by a car. She had a shattered hip and no one knew it for 10 days. We can only imagine the pain she was in. She also survived an owner that thought caring for a dog meant tying them to a tree, isolated for years. Scarlet was also a victim of a hoarding situation, living in a crate inside an RV garage for 3 years with 26 other screaming dogs surrounding her.

Today, Scarlet is experiencing all kinds of new and different people and taking car rides to "help" run errands, go on hikes and practice every day dog activities. She is the official CRCS mascot ... She is an AMAZING helper and our permanent co-pilot!

A few photos taken of Scarlet having fun at CRCS.
